Project – North Manly

In April 2004 we engaged Brad Johnson to carry out renovations to our property next to Manly Lagoon. The renovations were substantial and had been designed by the leading architecture firm - Utz Sanby. Brad's company were selected under a fixed­price arrangement following a competitive tender issued to three highly recommended builders.

Construction was completed in late 2004 and we have been extremely pleased with the result and the quality of the workmanship from Brad and his team.

Apart from the quality of the work, the key factors that impressed us were:

1. The overall quality of the team. It was clear that the various trades had worked together over a long period of time, took pride in their work and were able to work together effectively as a team.
2. Good communications. We found Brad and his tradesmen to be good at communicating what the plans were and keeping us informed of progress I next steps. We haven't found this to be a common trait with the other builders we met.
3. How they handled the unexpected. Any job, no matter how well planned, is going to encounter unexpected hurdles. There weren't many on our job, but the manner in which these were handled impressed us. In particular, they didn't result in unreasonable variations in cost. This built a high level of trust from our perspective in our dealings with Brad's team.
4. They worked well  with our architect.
